Scan a visiting card
Photograph a business card — OCR fills in the name, company, email and mobile for you.
Where: Connect → tap the card icon → Scan Visiting Card (or from any meetup → Log Meeting → Scan Visiting Card)
- 1Tap the card icon on the Connect tab, or the Log Meeting button on a meetup card, and choose "Scan Visiting Card".
- 2Take a photo of the card or pick one from your library.
- 3The scanned text is parsed automatically — review the name, company, designation, email, mobile and website it found and correct anything OCR missed.
- 4Choose to save the person as a contact only, or continue to a second step to create a Lead or a Client from the same details.
- 5Pick the meeting date and, optionally, which meetup this happened at, then save.
- If the scanned details match an existing contact, a banner offers to use that existing record instead of creating a duplicate — you can still update it with any new details from the card.
- If the match has conflicting saved details (e.g. a different company on file), a conflict screen lets you choose which version to keep before saving.
- The scan is saved as a connection tagged "In Person" so it shows up alongside your other logged meetings.
- "Log Manually" on the same action sheet opens the identical form with nothing pre-filled, for when there's no card to scan.
💡 Good to know — Card photos are processed through a secure server-side OCR service — the image itself isn't stored after the text is extracted.
